A white face and joined paws stand out against the green ground of this Kutani praying cat. Raised white lines trace flowers, dots, and the spirals across its pale belly, with orange, yellow, and blue details around the sides and back. Gold-colored circles on the front paws frame the small chest accent.

Made in Japan by Chōhō Kiln, this porcelain figurine is the “inori neko,” or praying cat, a form associated by the maker with wishes for happiness and prosperity. The decoration wraps around its compact body, with a curled tail on the reverse. Color shades, pattern placement, and dimensions may vary slightly between pieces.
