Iroe Yū Hidamari rabbit yunomi
Two rabbits sit beneath a small yellow sun on this hand-thrown Kutani-yaki yunomi from Iroe Yū’s Hidamari series. One rabbit is painted in warm amber overglaze and the other is left within the white-slip reserve, framed by drooping purple blossoms and a yellow bud spray.
- Item: One yunomi cup
- Workshop: Iroe Yū (色絵工房 遊)
- Ware: Kutani-yaki lineage
- Material: Stoneware
- Technique: Hand-thrown form with hand-painted iroe overglaze on a white-slip reserve
- Series: Hidamari (陽だまり), Rabbit motif
- Size: Approximately 8.5 cm diameter × 8 cm high (3.3 × 3.1 in)
- Estimated capacity: Approximately 180–220 ml; hand-thrown pieces vary slightly
- Microwave: No
- Dishwasher: No
- Included: Dark-blue Kutani art box and Kutani-yaki brochure
- Origin: Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan
The undecorated side retains the workshop’s grey, iron-flecked glaze, so the painted reserve occupies only part of the cup rather than wrapping around the full body.
Care
Hand wash with mild detergent and a soft sponge, then dry thoroughly. Do not use in a microwave or dishwasher, and avoid abrupt temperature changes. Hand-thrown and hand-painted pieces may differ slightly in glaze tone, iron flecks, brushwork, and rim shape.
