Pine, bamboo and plum are painted in blue around the scalloped rim of this Arita porcelain platter. The design is known as shōchikubai; its three plants surround a plain white centre.

The oval shape is useful for grilled fish, sashimi or a shared side dish.

Each platter is painted by hand, so the colour and brushwork vary slightly. Small dark marks may occur on the unglazed underside.
