Two coffee cups and matching saucers from Tsubakihidegama’s Himetsuchi range of Hagi ware. Each cup holds approximately 180 ml, and the four-piece set comes in a gift box.

The clay and glaze develop their colour together during firing, so the finish varies from piece to piece. Fine lines in the glaze may gradually darken with use—a characteristic of Hagi ware.

Includes: two cups and two saucers in a decorative box.
Cup: approximately 8 cm (3.1 in) rim diameter × 6 cm (2.4 in) high.
Capacity: approximately 180 ml (6.1 fl oz) per cup.
Saucer: approximately 14 cm (5.5 in) diameter × 2.5 cm (1 in) high.
Kiln: Tsubakihidegama, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.
Ware: Hagi-yaki.

Care instructions

Wash with dishwashing detergent before first use. Before use, soak the cups and saucers in water to reduce absorption of drinks and food.
Microwave use is limited to reheating. If using a dishwasher, keep the pieces apart so they cannot knock against other dishes.
Do not leave drinks or food in the cups for long periods. Avoid bleach, and dry thoroughly before storing.
Fine lines in the glaze may darken with use. Do not use a piece with chips or cracks in the ceramic body.
