This tall Kirara vase has a pale, textured finish and an asymmetric opening. A narrow gold-colored accent runs down one side, standing out against the white surface.

Made in Shigaraki, Japan, by Marui Seito for its Hechimon line. The Shiro-gesho Kirara finish uses white slip, with variations in texture and color between pieces. Supplied in an individual box.

Maker: Marui Seitō (丸伊製陶), Hechimon (へちもん) line. Made by Marui Seitō in Shiga Prefecture, Japan.
Ware: Shigaraki-yaki (信楽焼), one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns
Pattern: Shiro-geshō Kirara (白化粧きらら)
Material: Ceramic, Shigaraki clay body under a white slip
Decoration: uneven yabure-guchi rim on one side; kakitsuke (掻き付け) incised lines with gold accent; gold along the rim edge
