Two Shiba Inu sit side by side on this small Kutani bowl, one russet and one pale gold, their curled tails marked with white spirals. A blue mountain motif rises behind them, with pink flowers across the pale upper field.

Below a fine olive-green band the body turns dark and speckled, and the interior is a deep charcoal glaze. The decoration is hand-painted by Iroe Yū (色絵 遊) for its Hidamari series, so colour and line vary slightly from piece to piece.

Made by Iroe Yū in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. About 12 cm across and 8 cm high, it comes in an individual box with a printed Kutani information card.

Same form, other animals: Hidamari cat bowl · Hidamari rabbit bowl.
