Iroe Kobo Yu Hidamari cat teapot

Two cats, one white and one brown, sit side by side on this Kutani teapot, seen from behind beneath blue flowers and two yellow butterflies. Small floral motifs and another yellow butterfly decorate the reverse, and blue flowers repeat on the lid. The series is called Hidamari, a sunny spot, and the cats and flowers are painted by hand.

The pot holds 360 ml and comes with a removable mesh strainer basket for loose leaf. The glaze is a pale grey-white speckle, with brown accents on the handle and the lid knob and a brown band around the inner rim; the foot ring is left as bare clay.

Made in Japan by Iroe Kobo Yu, a Kutani-yaki painting workshop in Ishikawa Prefecture. Individually boxed.
