Kutani Ki-sai Tsubaki plate set

Five 14.5 cm plates make up this hand-painted Kutani set. Each yellow-ground plate carries two camellias: a white flower edged with fine red lines above an orange-red bloom, joined by a dark branch and green leaves. A purple-brown brush wash frames the rim.

Mark and use

A small turquoise-green square mark appears on the underside. Its strokes are not clear enough in the available image to support a named-kiln attribution, so the set remains attributed to Kutani-yaki generally.

The size works for individual servings of wagashi, dessert, fruit, small appetizers, pickles, or side dishes.
