Nambu iron double-bell furin by Ikenaga Tekkō

Two cast-iron bells hang beneath a broad canopy on this Nambu Tekki wind chime. One bell rings higher and the other lower, producing a two-tone response as the central pendulum and paper tanzaku move in the breeze.

  • Material: Cast iron and paper
  • Diameter: Approx. 10.5 cm
  • Height: Approx. 14.5 cm
  • Weight: Approx. 300 g
  • Maker: Ikenaga Tekkō

The ringing sound associated with Nambu iron wind chimes was included in Japan’s Ministry of the Environment selection of 100 Soundscapes to Preserve for Future Generations in 1996.
