Arita and Hasami sometsuke oval platter

This white porcelain platter is hand-painted in cobalt underglaze. A pine, bamboo, and plum border follows the chrysanthemum-fluted rim, leaving a clear oval reserve at the centre for serving.

At the table

The open centre gives food a clean white ground. Use the platter for sushi or sashimi, tempura, gyoza, grilled skewers, fruit, wagashi, or small cakes. Because the decoration is brushed by hand, line weight and cobalt depth may vary slightly.
