$184.00 AUD

Low stock: 1 left

  • Porcelain
  • Made in Japan

Both paws raised, a white porcelain body, and the multicolored Hanazono (花園, "flower garden") pattern running over it. This Kutani maneki neko is made by the Chōhō Kiln (長峰) in Ishikawa. The floral decoration includes fine hand-painted details, worked in the vivid Kutani overglaze palette, with raised mori details that give the flowers a gently textured relief.

  • Item: stationary maneki neko figurine, Kutani ware
  • Made by Chōhō Kiln (長峰) / Kutani ware, Ishikawa

In common maneki neko symbolism the right paw is the side associated with inviting money and the left with welcoming people. This pose raises both. Colour carries meaning too. White is the original colour of the lucky cat, and is most often linked with happiness, purity, and new beginnings.

Small differences in color and pattern may occur from piece to piece.

At 12 cm tall on a 7 cm square footprint, it sits comfortably on an entryway shelf, a desk, a display cabinet, or a shop counter, and makes a warm gift for a housewarming, a new business, or a cat lover.

CARE

  • Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth; avoid soaking and abrasives (the gold-tone and raised mori details are delicate).
  • Lift the figure by the body or base, not by the raised paws, and avoid pressure on the raised decoration.

THE MAKER

Chōhō Kiln

長峰 · Ishikawa

Chōhō (長峰, also read Nagamine) is a modern Kutani-yaki kiln in Ishikawa Prefecture known for the Hanazono (花園 flower-garden) pattern and the signature ryōte (両手 both-paws-up) maneki neko series. Distinctive technique: mori-e (盛り絵 raised-line slip) accents over overglaze enamel. Not a coin bank — hollow base only, no money slot.

Independent Kutani kiln; tradition designated 1975
