Hechimon Meiyō Natsume vase

This 15.5 cm Shigaraki vase uses a rounded Natsume, or jujube, form. A green ash glaze covers the upper third, with wheel-thrown ridges still visible beneath it; the lower body leaves the sandy clay and pale feldspar inclusions exposed.

Curved flower stems and leaves are incised into one side, ending in small gold-painted flower clusters. The position of the glaze, clay speckle, and carved lines may vary slightly with the hand-finished process.

Maker: Marui Seitō (丸伊製陶), Hechimon line
Series: Meiyō
Ware: Shigaraki-yaki ceramic, Shiga Prefecture, Japan
Form: wheel-thrown Natsume vase
Surface: green ash glaze, incised stems, and gold-painted flowers
Dimensions: approximately 13 cm wide × 13 cm deep × 15.5 cm high
Weight: approximately 1.2 kg
Included: individual box and Hechimon card

For flowers and branches

The porous clay body requires a waterproof inner insert for fresh flowers. Without water, the narrow opening supports a single stem, dried grasses, or a small branch.

Care instructions

For decorative use.
The unglazed Shigaraki body is porous; for fresh-flower water, use a small glass insert (a test-bottle or flower-foam cup) inside the vase to keep the clay dry on the inside.
For dried flowers, no insert is needed.
Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth.
Avoid prolonged moisture and direct sunlight on the gold-leaf (kinsai) accents.
Slight differences in glaze pooling, speckle pattern, and overall curve are the Hechimon brand's signature one-of-a-kind character — not flaws.
