Misuzu Arita lidded bowl in red matte porcelain

This 330 ml lidded bowl by Misuzu is hand-painted on Arita porcelain. White five-petal blossoms, magenta details, and gold karakusa vines cross a finely speckled red-matte ground. A small gold-and-orange finial tops the lid, while the foot carries a cursive painter’s signature and the Arita-yaki cooperative bijutsu sticker.

Scattered flowers on a matte red ground

Hana-chirashi describes flowers placed loosely across a surface rather than enclosed in formal panels. The five-petal blossoms can be read as sakura, though the species is interpretive; the gold scrolling vines link them across the lid and bowl.

The contemporary aka-matto finish replaces the glassy red associated with much Imari ware with a softer, stippled surface. Against it, the white blossoms and gold lines appear crisp without making the bowl feel heavily ornamented.

The 330 ml bowl suits rice, miso or clear soup, chawanmushi, a small simmered dish, or wagashi. The fitted lid helps retain warmth between kitchen and table.

Hand-wash ONLY with mild detergent and a soft sponge — never abrasive scrubbers.

Do NOT use the dishwasher — alkaline detergent strips overglaze gold (金彩 kinsai) and can dull the matte red finish over time.

Do NOT use the microwave — no microwave compatibility rating is available, so we cannot confirm microwave-safe.

Do not soak; dry promptly with a soft towel.

Avoid sudden temperature changes (do not pour boiling water onto cold porcelain).

Because each piece is hand-painted, slight variations in glaze tone, brushwork, and pattern placement may occur and are part of its handmade character.

Returns / damage support

Returns and exchanges are accepted within 30 days of delivery for eligible items. For a standard return or exchange, return shipping is the buyer's responsibility, and items must be returned in their original condition and packaging.

If your item arrives damaged, defective, or significantly different from the description, please contact us as soon as possible after delivery with clear photos of the item and packaging. ZenKiln will cover the reasonable return or replacement cost where applicable.
