Gold-coloured calico markings and raised mori decoration cover this Kutani porcelain cat by Chōhō Kiln. Both paws are raised above an ema-shaped plaque at the chest.

In common maneki neko tradition, the right paw invites financial good fortune and the left welcomes people. Ema are plaques traditionally used for written wishes; here, the shape forms part of the ceramic decoration.
