Pink Kutani Maneki Neko with raised moriage florals

A field of raised flowers moves across the pink body of this small Kutani lucky cat. Blue and orange chrysanthemums, smaller blossoms, white dots, and a gold-toned bell give the 10.2 cm figure a layered surface rather than a flat painted pattern.

  • Material: Ceramic
  • Dimensions: 6.5 cm wide × 5.5 cm deep × 10.2 cm high
  • Technique: Gosai overglaze with raised moriage florals and gold accents
  • Workshop: Chōhō Kiln, Ishikawa

The raised left paw is traditionally associated with welcoming people and relationships; pink Maneki Neko are commonly linked with love and ryōen, or good connections. The base carries the red 長峰 and 九谷 marks.

Dust gently. If needed, use a barely damp soft cloth; do not soak or use bleach, abrasives, or scrubbing tools on the raised enamel and gold accents.

THE MAKER

Chōhō Kiln

長峰 · Ishikawa

Chōhō (長峰, also read Nagamine) is a modern Kutani-yaki kiln in Ishikawa Prefecture known for the Hanazono (花園 flower-garden) pattern and the signature ryōte (両手 both-paws-up) maneki neko series. Distinctive technique: mori-e (盛り絵 raised-line slip) accents over overglaze enamel. Not a coin bank — hollow base only, no money slot.

Independent Kutani kiln; tradition designated 1975
