Iroe Yū Hidamari cat donburi

Two cats sit back-to-back on this small Kutani donburi by Iroe Yū. One is a white silhouette and the other dark sienna, surrounded by blue forget-me-nots, small multicoloured flowers, green leaves, and two butterflies.

Surface and use

A speckled cream kohiki glaze covers the upper field, meeting a darker granular lower section with a soft green haze between them. The foot ring is left unglazed.

The bowl suits rice, ochazuke, soup, salad, fruit, dessert, or a small portion of noodles.
