Care instructions
Care instructions
Hand-wash only — warm water, mild dish soap, soft cloth; rinse and towel-dry promptly so water does not sit at the bowl-stem join. The gold-toned metal stem makes this set incompatible with the microwave (metal will arc), so never microwave; hand-washing also protects the hand-painted iroe overglaze.
Handle with care to protect the painted porcelain surface and the stem.
Because each piece is individually decorated, slight differences in brushwork, glaze tone, and motif placement may occur and are part of its character.

THE MAKER
Bizan Kiln
美山窯 · Ishikawa
Bizan Kiln (美山窯) is a modern Kutani-yaki kiln in Ishikawa Prefecture specialising in kachō (花鳥 birds-and-flowers) hand-painted iroe overglaze in the gosai 5-colour Kutani palette. Best known for the Kōtori Shunshū (小鳥春秋 ‘Little Birds Spring & Autumn’) paired wine cups, painted in observational detail — sakura with songbird for spring, momiji with songbird for autumn — mounted on shared gold-toned metal stems.
Independent Kutani kiln, not separately METI-listed; tradition designated 1975
