There is a small pocket inside this carafe. Fill it with ice, and the sake around it turns cold — while not a single drop of meltwater gets in. Cold sake that stays sake, down to the last pour.

Handmade blue glass by Toyo Sasaki, the Tokyo glassmaker: a 300 ml carafe and two 55 ml cups, sized for sharing. The turquoise-to-clear gradient does half the work before the ice even goes in, and since each set is formed by hand, the blue, the speckling, and the shape settle a little differently on every one.
